Hike with Spike - This Saturday at Tarzan Falls, showtime at the trail head is 8:30am. Bring a lunch, sunscreen, bug spray, swim suit. Asking for donations of $10 per person and $5 per dog and all proceeds go directly to GAIN.

Agat Pet Wellness Clinic - This Sunday at the Agat Community Center bring your pet out for FREE ear cleaning, nail clipping, dewormer, rabies, pet license, and free check up with Dr. Harper! Volunteers will be on hand to answer all your pet related questions!!


Photos for Fido - Coupons are available which can be purchased for $10 and used for a photo session at Bellissimo Moments and a free 8x10. All proceeds from the sale of the coupons go to GAIN. Bellissimo Moments is opening Sunday October 2nd from 10-4pm just for us to come by and use them. You can make an appointment any day but this day will be all for GAIN customers to make it a bit easier for some folks.

Begging for Boonies - Our next supply drive will be at NEX Home Center on NBG. We will be there on October 3rd from 10am-5pm. We will have lists of needed items, coupons, and hand outs regarding volunteering.

Dogtoberfest:

October has gone to the dogs! Guam Animals In Need is gearing up for its big celebration: Dogtoberfest 2011! Set to take place on Sunday, Oct. 9, Dogtoberfest will be a fun-filled day celebrating “Responsible Dog Ownership,” complete with food, games and contests for pets and their owners.

“GAIN, Guam’s only shelter-based humane society, is at the forefront of the fight against animal cruelty on island as well as the education of the public concerning animal welfare,” says Faye Varias, Dogtoberfest Coordinator and GAIN Volunteer. “Dogtoberfest is an event to carry out that mission in a fun, engaging way.”

The event starts at 11 a.m. at 222 Marine Corps Drive in Asan, behind Isla Veterinary Clinic and Harley Davidson and will wrap up around 4 p.m.

Dogtoberfest will be a sight to see as different stations are set up with a number of events going on simultaneously, from how to teach your dog a trick to demonstrations by the Naval Base Guam K9 Security team, getting your dog registered as Canine Good Citizen, a special kids’ corner and much more! On the main stage, attendees can sign up for contests from the cutest and ugliest dogs to those with the best costumes or buy raffle tickets for a chance to win prizes from our sponsors. If you donate an item from GAIN’s “wish list” you receive a free raffle ticket!

GAIN is seeking volunteers to help with the planning and coordination before and on the day of the event as well as companies who would like to donate prizes for the contests. GAIN also welcomes retail and food vendors at the festival for only $50 and $100 respectively to reserve a booth. Non-profit organizations may also sign up for booth space at just $30.
