G.A.I.N. Services…

The Yigo Animal Shelter is open 9am to 5pm every day of the year. Nearly 5,000 animals are relinquished at the shelter every year. GAIN attempts to find loving homes for these animals and is successful in 20% of their attempts.
Guam Department of Agriculture catches dogs and cats and brings them to the shelter. They are also responsible to handle animal cruelty cases and removal of carcasses from the island’s roads. Animals are brought to the shelter until they are reclaimed or adopted.

Residents who have lost or found a pet can notify GAIN at 653-4246 or guamanimals@yahoo.com and also post on our Facebook page (facebook.com/guamanimals), the pet information is sent out island wide.

If you are dropping off a litter of pups be sure to get your coupon to have the mother spayed for FREE.

GAIN also distributes the GovGuam mandated pet licenses.  In October 2011, GAIN opened an education center where folks can go to learn more about being a responsible pet owner, hang out with adoptable pets, and use the media center for more information regarding many facets of animal behavior.

G.A.I.N. Programs…

Adopt a Kennel
Mona Roberts suggested placing kennel signs at each of the adoption kennels. Individuals, school groups, military organizations and private companies have sponsored kennels. For $250 names, pictures and logos are put on a 16” x 4” acrylic sign and posted on the kennel for one year.

2nd Chance Boonie Rescue This program was set up in response to the successful Guam Greyhound Rescue when GAIN was relentless in securing nearly 200 greyhounds that were shipped to Greyhound Rescue Groups in the states. Numerous residents asked why the greyhounds got special treatment – so we decided why can’t we provide extraordinary attempts to rescue boonie animals. The program is designed to locate and save animals that would otherwise be euthanized.

Annual Calendar Project
Noni Davis, a GAIN volunteer, set the first calendar in motion with her “before” and “after” pictures of animals she had photographed. The calendar was such a hit it has become an annual fundraiser.

Fredalyn: It Takes an Island Community
