Foster a Lonely Pet for the Holidays

During the holidays we would like to invite all of Guams residents to visit the our shelter and would welcome you to participate in our “Foster a Lonely Pet for the Holidays” campaign. We would like to empty our kennels for Christmas by encouraging members of the public to invite a pet home for the holidays.

People interested in making this Christmas a happy holiday for a pet in need or who want more information should contact Julie Grady, 653-4246 or visit the Yigo Animal Shelter to complete a foster application. Animals can be fostered at any time between now and December 25th. The pets can be returned or adopted by January 8, 2011.

The organization has an average population of 75 adoptable dogs and puppies and 45 adoptable cats and kittens. They can be viewed online on GAIN’s facebook or on www.petfinder.com. The goal for the "Foster a Lonely Pet for the Holidays" program is to have each of these pets into a home by noon on December 20.

We also have an excellent volunteer opportunity for students over fifteen looking for a rewarding vacation experience. Please volunteer at the Yigo Animal Shelter. The animals look forward to playtime with students and it increases their chances for adoption if they receive socialization and training.
